Naturparkhaus Kasern, 1582 mSommer 1947, ca. 3 Uhr früh: Hier endete die kräfteraubende Überschreitung des 2634 m hohen Krimmler Tauern für 5.000 jüdische Flüchtlinge aus Osteuropa. In Gruppen von 150 bis 200 sind Männer, Frauen und Kinder erschöpft nach einem 15-stündigen Fußmarsch aus Krimml angekommen. Die Fluchthilfeorganisation Bricha (= Flucht) übernahm die weitere Betreuung im nahe gelegenen Knappenhaus und führte die Flüchtlinge nach Genua oder in andere Hafenstädte auf ihrem Weg nach Palästina. Die Schwachen und Kranken wurden zunächst nach Meran oder Mailand gebracht. FRIEDEN – שלום

Esausti erano arrivati dopo 15 ore di cammino in gruppi di 150-200 uomini, donne e bambini. L’organizzazione di aiuto ai profughi, la Bricha (fuga), si incaricò di ristorarli nella vicina casa dei minatori (“Knappenhaus” in tedesco) e di avviarli verso la Palestina portandoli a Genova o in altre città di mare.
